Updated Home feed page
in progress

Resuscitating this idea for a desktop “home” page from my Okuna/Openbook archives with update for an Openspace iteration. Currently, on iOS desktop, the home feed is floating on a white background and navigating to other areas of the platform (like profile, joined communities, etc.) entails clicking through to a new page.
This new configuration, accessible via the header navigation bar, puts access to more features at the user’s fingertips. It would span full width on smaller monitors, laptops and iPads, and would cut down on the vacuum of white space currently hogging large monitor real-estate.
Many of the elements of this design are already in place on the user profile page 👶 such as the top nav bar, landscape header, avatar and static bio. On the right is the scrollable feed of user posts.
The updated “home” page 🏠 would contain on the left hand side, 2 additional panes under the bio: a static pane with clickable links that shows the communities 🫧 the user has joined; and the customizable “Pinned Post” 📌 that has been requested in Canny. These 3 panes (bio, communities, and pinned) would remain in a fixed position.
To the right is the “home” feed which continues to be scrollable. Icons for filters, settings and the + ⭕️ for creating a new post are at the top of the feed for easy access.
The configuration is one that many users are already familiar with - here’s hoping that it is implementable on this platform.

Ideflex here is part 2 of your ask... I'm envisioning it a bit differently. Hope this achieves the same result. check this out:

Massimo Raimondi looking good- I imagine it works well on laptops and monitors with more limited real-estate. This should really help navigation 😀

This is partially completed. Home feed still needs an update.
Also, the ability to pin a post is a separate feature I think. There is a lot here that needs to be built and it might be better to have them separated.
Ideflex
Massimo Raimondi one thing at a time isn’t unreasonable 😆 The pinned post is like a bit of icing on the cake…

I am working on this, but I might have misunderstood the requirement. The title is "update home feed page", but do you really mean user profile page? For example, if I navigate to Ideflex's profile, the new view I see is the mockup?
OR
Is this a new homepage feed, whereby when I login I see my profile, with a feed of my followers and community contents with communities I contribute to and pinned posts?
Ideflex
Massimo Raimondi in an ideal world, when you log in to your user profile page 👶 you would see:
Avatar and header
Left side: User bio
User communities joined
Pinned Post
Right side: Nav icons
User Posts in chronological descending order
Part 2: When you navigate to the home feed 🏠 you would see the same elements (your user details) in the avatar/header and on the left side but:
Right side: Nav icons
Posts of those you follow in chronological descending order
The logic behind this maximizes desktop real-estate but more importantly:
a) offers users visiting another person's profile page a complete view of their interests, activities and content
b) offers users instant access to editing their profile, communities and pinned posts when they are scrolling through their home feed without having to navigate to another page
Eventually the trending, explore and public feeds could be incorporated into this base template and be generated where the user home feed will be.
Guess you can tell i'm on an extended coffee break 😀

Ideflex: I think I got it... so its a user's profile page. So if I navigate to your profile, that is what I would see. ya?
Ideflex
Massimo Raimondi if you are another visiting user, yes - so consider it a standalone 👶 PROFILE page.
BUT I would also see those same left side panes on my own 🏠 HOME page where the feed of all those I follow is generated (the part two 🏠 and b) in the previous comment).
Currently on web, the home page is pretty much blank except for a scrolling feed.
basically, in this design, it is only the feeds generated that are “changing” no matter whether the user navigates to 👶 profile, 🏠 home and in later iterations, 🔥trending, 🌎 public and 🔭 explore.
To go back to your very first comment it would be an AND rather than an OR 😀

Ideflex Ok got it... I might have something ready today as a part 1 of the final product..
Ideflex
Massimo Raimondi fantastic! I just looked at the web profile page and it looks great! I will wait patiently for the “see more” widget in it to be fully functional. Thank you so much.
